If you have a few extra moments, please consider writing a letter to the editor and sending it to one of the many Douglas County local newspapers. It's important for community members to see the support for Douglas County Schools and the MLO from fellow community members.

Douglas County has built one of the strongest public school systems in Colorado. Voting Yes on 5A will help keep it that way.
Douglas County School District is the top-performing district in the Denver metro area, with a 93.6% graduation rate. The Class of 2026 earned more than $124 million in scholarships. Those results matter to all of us. Strong schools prepare our future workforce, support our economy and contribute to the quality of life that makes Douglas County such a desirable place to live.
Issue 5A is a $54 million Mill Levy Override that will invest directly in the people and programs behind that success. It will help DCSD retain and attract great teachers and staff, whose starting salaries remain 7% below the Denver metro average. It will reduce waitlists for Career and Technical Education programs, including the skilled trades; restore programs such as elementary instrumental music; and maintain school security, including school resource officers.
Taxpayers also deserve accountability. The measure requires an annual independent audit and citizen oversight to ensure the money is spent as promised.
Whether you have children in school today, your children graduated years ago or you’ve never had children in DCSD, we all benefit from excellent public schools.
Our previous investments are producing results. Let’s continue that momentum.
Please vote Yes on 5A to keep great teachers in our classrooms, expand opportunities for students and keep our schools safe.
