Why does DCSD need a Bond?
The Douglas County School District has not built a new school since 2010. Many schools throughout the district are significantly overcrowded. DCSD needs additional funding to continue to fund maintenance and repairs and to construct new schools in fast-growing areas of the county.
How many new neighborhood schools are needed?
DCSD needs to construct at least three new elementary schools and build additions to one to two middle schools in order to accommodate growth and reduce crowding in some areas of our county.
Did you know that by law Bond dollars can only be used for capital investments? Bond dollars can NOT be used for salaries and other operational dollars.
